Global Leaders Working Together for Political Action on Antimicrobial Resistance

    Mr Yasuhisa Shiozaki

    Former Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, Member of the House of Representatives, JAPAN

    Biography

    Mr Shiozaki is a current member of the House of Representatives of the National Diet of Japan (the Parliament) and a former Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare (2014-2017).  During his 27 year career as a Member of Diet, he has contributed to a wide-range of policies including finance and economic policies, healthcare, labour and pension system. Tackling AMR is one of his passions. He led and successfully launched the first National Action Plan on AMR during his time as the Minister. He also put AMR on the agenda of the G7 Ise-Shima Summit and led the discussion of AMR during the G7 Kobe Health Ministers Meeting that were under Japan’s presidency in 2016. Mr Shiozaki received his B.A. from University of Tokyo and Master’s in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
