Mr Jakob Forssmed

Jakob Forssmed has been the Swedish Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health since 2022. Mr Forssmed has an academic background in political science, graduating from the University of Gothenburg with studies equivalent to a Degree of Master in Political Science. He has since been active in national politics as a key person for his political party, the Christian Democrats, serving as chief of staff, economic policy spokesperson and as a state secretary, working closely with the Prime Minister. Forssmed has been a member of the Swedish Riksdag for three terms of office, from 2003 until recently, when he was delegated to the position of Minister. Sweden has along-standing reputation as a front-runner in the work against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), a field that Mr Forssmed is devoted to developing even further, while also enabling and strengthening global cooperation through the great expertise this network provides.
