Global Leaders Working Together for Political Action on Antimicrobial Resistance

The world is in a race against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) that we cannot afford to lose. The Global Leaders Group on Antimicrobial Resistance is working to accelerate political momentum, leadership and action on AMR.

    Ms Sunita Narain

    Director-General, Centre for Science and Environment, INDIA

    Biography

    Ms Narain is the Director-General of Center for Science and Environment and was a member of the UN Interagency Coordination Group on AMR. She is an environmentalist and author, playing an active role in policy formulation on issues of environment and development in India and globally. Her work with the Centre for Science and Environment on AMR issues is focused on the land and food connection of antimicrobials through environment, agriculture and livestock pathways. She was a member of the Indian Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change and has been awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour. In 2005, the Centre for Science and Environment, under her leadership was also awarded the Stockholm Water Prize. In 2016, Time Magazine listed her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
